Dr Heinz Schandl

Heinz Schandl holds a PhD in Sociology and a Master degree in Social and Economic Sciences from the University of Vienna, Austria. He joined CSIRO in 2006 as a senior science leader. He leads research to inform policy design for sustainable consumption and production, resource efficiency, waste minimization and greenhouse gas abatement and the circular economy. He coordinates CSIRO’s circular economy initiative. He is an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies of Nagoya University in Japan, a member of the United Nations Environment Program International Resource Panel and the current president of the International Society of Industrial Ecology.
